The area of Celjska koča between Pečovnik, Vipota, Grmada (718m) and Tovsti vrh (834m) is a nature park intended for relaxation in natural environment. The preserved woods and the area of the skiing ground hide numerous paths for comfortable strolls and mountain trails leading to Grmada, Vipota and Tovsti vrh as well as to the Celje valley, Laško valley or Štore. Near the lower parking ground by the mountain hut, there is an entrance to the educational nature path.

Among the mighty treetops of chestnuts, limes, oaks, white beeches and larches, the road through the “woody park” winds downhill between young birch trees and crosses the colorful Štelakov graben. Then it starts to wind uphill again among the spruce wood up to the crest

Under the crest the glorious old douglasia trees reveal themselves to ones view.

Taking the crest path called “Po vrheh” (“On the tops”) one can feast one’s eyes upon the marvelous views to the Celjska valley ….. and Laško area. The educational nature path then takes its turn by the natural beech tree wood and descends by the hunters hut down through the soft grounds of spruce wood towards the mountain hut Celjska koča.

The preserved nature of Celjska koča hides many surprises. Numerous colorful flowers, which are elsewhere counted among the endangered specimens (for example, the protected “Orchis morio”, better known as the wild orchid) bloom on the clearing.
