History
The area of Celjska koča with Pečovnik has a lenghty tradition of sports turism. On 650 meters of height above the sea level (ASL), the ski slope Celjska koča and the mountaineers’ destination Celjska koča, have been important turist destinations for recreational purposes in nature since 1920.
The modern faster way of living is short in its time for relaxation, rest and recreation.
The vicinity of the sport fascilities is becoming more and more important because of the general lack of spare time, and Celjska koča is in the vicinity of Celje, only 10 kilometers from the city.
The development of the turist centre and the ski ground Celjska koča has shown that people moslty wish for excuisit offers of smaller turistic centres for small prices. Skiers mostly have massively visited the skiing ground Celjska koča and have selected it five times in a row (in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007) as the best skiing ground in Slovenia, in the category of smaller skiing grounds. In average, Celjska koča has almost 20.000 visitors per season.
In the past few years, the turist destination Celjska koča has become well-known amongst the numerous visitors from Celje, Savinjska region, Posavje, Kozjansko and the entire country of Slovenia
